Kate is 6 months old!

Actually, she was 6 months on the 14th. But we are still celebrating! Or crying, because she's getting so big, not sure which. She eats, eats, eats. She's getting much better at eating rice cereal these days, which I have to give the credit to her Grandmamma Kathy - but we'll get to that! Kathy and Gail came to stay with us for the weekend.
See how happy Kate is to be 6 months?! And also to have that red and white GEORGIA onesie on. I am not getting much support on UGA apparel these days. No support! I know I've got some friends out there somewhere.. and Kate's on my side! :)

As I was saying, Kate is starting to get the hang of spoon feeding now. Grandmamma Kathy was a big help getting her to take the food - here she is feeding her breakfast.

Empty bowl! I couldn't get more than a tablespoon or so down, and there was probably 2 or 3 in this bowl. This week we tried out peas - she loved them! I did too, but James did not. Well maybe he would, but he would not try them. I figured we should know what she is tasting, but he disagrees. Photos to follow on that new experience.
Kate has a bunch of beautiful dresses to wear, but we have just now started going to church again. Hopefully as we try to go more often, she can also get a chance to wear these cute outfits! I tried to get a photo of her in this one, but she rolls over too fast.

"Stop taking photos, Mommy!"

Here's a photo from our first time back to church. It went well except that we were running a little late, then stayed in the nursery too long, then go lost in the church trying to take a "short cut" to the sanctuary. Naturally, we came in on the balcony level trying to be sneaky and got caught: everyone was looking in our direction to see a video on a screen - right at the door where we walked in!! I hate that.. :)

One side note - you'll notice in the last photo there's a pacifier. Ah, the ever present pacifier. Well Kate turning 6 months also marks the end of the pacifier. Yes, she is a full time thumb-sucker now. Guess we don't have to worry about getting rid of that pacifier... now how will we get rid of her thumb... ?

Anniversary

Friday is our 5 Year Anniversary!! In case I don't get a chance to post, I wanted to go ahead an put up some memories.

5 years ago today we were married in Social Circle, GA, by the Reverend Robinson (James' granddad) and Tim McClendon.

James' sister Jennifer was my bridesmaid, and Melissa was the flower girl. James' dad was the best man.

It was a wonderful day! I wish we could experience the day all over again, because it went by so fast. These past 5 years have gone by equally as fast, and I suppose it will never slow down. :)

Photo quality

Can I just complain: I am so over these crazy cameras we have. I know they are decent, but maybe I do not know how to adjust them to take good photos. I really hate using a flash because I think it makes the image too cool/bright, but when I don't use a flash, the images are a little blurred and there is this fussy thing going on. Annoying! I guess I'll have to find the instruction book and do some reading. Anyway.... :)

Beach and other new stuff

We just went on a short beach trip last week in SC with James' family: Papa-Mel, Grandma Lisa, Jennifer, Melissa and Uncle Stan. We had a great time! It was not long enough, and well overdue. We were lucky enough to stay in Uncle David Mack's family's house at Land's End.
I cannot get enough of these beautiful oak trees. The do not look the same in Atlanta.

Kate's first trip to the beach!! She was completely covered in sunscreen, clothes and a tent the entire time. Maybe Dad was being a little protective? :) He wouldn't let me put her in the water! Next time.

I'm sorry I didn't take more photos with the family! We were a little out of sorts when we arrived: Kate had a cold with a fever, and I was getting over a migraine. Luckily by Saturday we were both feeling better.

We have plenty of excitement at home these days (always, really).
Kate has been growing and changing so much recently! She's getting to experience all new things. It's fun for all of us!

We decided she needed a new "play station" in the house (because the bouncy seat, jungle gym, swing and bumbo seat were not enough), so we got out the Rainforest Jumperoo. At first she wasn't so sure, but now she's getting the hang of it. It's hard to get good photos because she's moving so much.
She's upgraded to a new pink duck bathtub. She kept sliding down in the old one, and we realized she was about to outgrow it anyway. She loves the new one!! She splashes more, and was blowing raspberries the first time we put her in it.
It even quacks!
She's eating rice cereal, too! Again, not so sure about it just yet, but we will keep trying.
That's all for now!
