The Little Ladybug

People! We have a ladybug. Just look how cute.
You know she did not like that headband... but she got over it! :)
She was loving that little pumpkin. I'm quite proud of the costume. We tried it on this weekend to see if it would fit. I know there are a few details left to finish (like actually sewing the parts that are held together with safety pins... then again it's not like she's going to be in it for long).
And in other Kate news, she said, "Mama"!!!! Or more like ma-ma-ma-ma.
She was SO proud of herself.
She would say it and then look at us and smile, like - look what I can do!
We know she doesn't know what she's saying, but it is still exciting.

She is also saying Na-na. Can you believe we don't have any Grandmothers out there wanting to be called Nana??!? (I bet we might have one now)

Pumpkins, rolling and dadadadaddadaaad

Finally, I have put our new camera to use. I'm starting to learn how to use it. I had to read the manual for the first time!! I knew what I wanted to do, but I had to learn about aperture and stuff (did I even spell that right? you know what I'm talking about if not).
Sunday was my birthday!! 32. That sounds old to me. But it's fine. I think this birthday was the best of all - just hanging out with James and Kate was so fun. He got me a cake, which we have eaten half of as of tonight.

I'm still working on Kate's ladybug costume for Halloween. Of course I had to try out the headband on the cat!! She was not impressed.
We spent Sunday morning hanging out at home in our pj's. Hey, Kate is 8 months old!!! How did that happen..
She totally tried to sit up in her bouncy seat. No more sitting this thing on the counter! It now sits on the floor in the kitchen while we get ready in the morning. More stuff on Kate in a min.For my birthday, I wanted to get some pumpkins for our front porch. It was so cold on Sunday! We went to the Glenn Memorial Church at Emory to get some pumpkins. The were super cheap - we got 1 large and 1 small for only $6. I think a large one is $12 at Pike. What a rip off!

Kate was delighted by the pumpkins. She liked touching the stems mainly.
I picked Kate up from school on Monday, and on the way home she started saying, "baa baa baa baa baa." That is that first time I've ever heard her do it! She also had some, "daa daa daa daa" in there, too. Of course by the time we got home, she wouldn't do it for James.

Tonight was a different story - she could not stop saying, "da da da da da da" over and over again! And she is rolling around like crazy. Like, 2 rolls one direction, then 3 rolls back the other way. It was insane!! Here's some video (and yes we are watching her like a hawk up there on that bed, don't worry - she goes on the floor when it's just one of us).

Sitting Up and less spitting up

We are sitting up so good these days!! I am very excited for Kate. I have been waiting for her to be able to sit up on her own. I think there are some things that your baby accomplishes, and you think: aww.. she's growing up! I wish we could go back. But this is not one of them for me. I love that she can sit on her own (just about).
This is from 1-1/2 months ago. If you held her arms, she could sit up but would slump a little.
Then we would fall over!
Then in September, she started being able to sit with the boppy pillow. Finally, this thing is coming in handy (there are times when I hated that thing for nursing - just didn't work for me). We love the boppy pillow now.
And in the tub she's getting the hang of it! It allows her to play a lot more.
This photo was taken yesterday at my friend Lisa's. I think she is the cutest thing in this photo. Maybe it's her expression or how she's sitting. She kept turning to the pillow and lightly touching it with her hand.

Today, she started saying, "Mm.. Mm." I am encouraging Mama, of course. She also started pulling herself with her arms while lying on her stomach. We must be getting closer to crawling.

That's all on the Kate update today! Hope everyone has a good weekend.
I have pumpkin sausage pasta on the brain... going to try out this new recipe for dinner tonight. Sounds like a yummy dish for this fall weather.
