Approaching Two, and looking back :)

It's been a whole year since we had a birthday!! Kate will be 2 on Monday. I can't believe how fast time has flown by, and I know every parent says that. I think because you are so busy, and you see your child everyday... you can't see them growing and changing unless you look back.

Easter

Summer

Fall

few weeks ago..

:)
We have had such a good time and made so many amazing memories. This past year has been awesome.

And for fun, let's look at James and I when we were 2.

I wish I had more 2-yr old photos to post. It's fun to look back to see what we looked like at that age and compare.

Our little valentine will be making another year of memories.. I could get emotional about it, but American Idol is on, so I gotta go.

Big girl bed

I can't believe I'm writing this already, but Kate has moved from her crib to the bed!!
Already. Seems so soon, as I thought we just came home from the hospital with her yesterday.

Here's the twin bed with new rails. here's how it happened: last weekend, Kate woke up at 4 am, and she could not go back to sleep. I got up to check on her, and I was so sleepy.. i just decided to lay down with her in the twin bed (other side of the room from her crib). We went to sleep until 8:30 or so. That evening, as we were about to put Kate in her crib for bed, she kept calling out "momma" (she still says momma when she wants something, lol) and pointing to the twin bed. Neither one of us got it and just put her in the crib.

Look at the sad, lonely, empty crib!
Anyway, the next night she did the same thing. Then I figured it out - she wanted to lay down with me again on the twin bed. So we did for a few minutes w/ the lights off, and then i put her in the crib for bed. No crying. she was happy with this new tradition. We did it all last week, and this weekend I said, "James, I think it's time to move to the big girl bed." She is on her 3rd night sleeping in the twin bed - she has not once tried to go back to the crib!!!! I had no idea it would be this easy. I think we got lucky. Maybe our good luck will continue with potty-training, hahhahahahaha

3 month old Kate, in her crib. (sniff, sniff)

An even smaller kate at 2 weeks old. (bahhhh!!!)

1 year ago, sleeping soundly. Ahh..

Kate is becoming very independent.. she likes to sit in the grown-up chairs a lot. She gets in them by herself and yells out, "EAT!!" and "SNACK!!!!"

Eating has been difficult recently - because there are only about 6 things she will eat.
Crackers of any kind, applesauce, scrambled eggs, waffles/pancakes, raisins, cheerios, macaroni is hit or miss. the other night, she ate her pasta wheels and made a little pile of peas on the side. :) I'm not too concerned because I know she will eat more of a variety when she goes through her next growth spurt.

Speaking of... she's getting very, very close to 2 years!!! We are not far away.
What a milestone. (mommy wants to bawl again)

Easter

Finally, here's some photos from Easter. Before I get to those, here's what's going on with us:
James had a cortisone shot today - turns out that he has a ruptured disc as well as bone spurs!! That explains the severe pain. Hopefully the shot will help.
Still no word on Kate and her blood, but hopefully we will learn more soon!

Eggs..

What's in these??

Peeps!!

She knew what to do.

The cat was interested, too..

Until Kate saw her, and then she ran like heck.

Then we had to put our pretty dress on.

And play with violets.

Not a fan of the grass yet. We'll get there.

Here's 1 year ago!! Look at that tiny baby.
(Look at my long hair... hmm, maybe i'll grow it back out)

Here we are now! Ooooooo...

Ahhh....
And don't forget to brush your teeth!!
(She didn't want to put her new toothbrush down, so we kept it in the photos).

One year ago today, our little valentine was born. It's so fun to look back, because it sure doesn't seem like a year ago, and so much has changed..

2 days before.. I was feeling really pregnant.

At Emory Crawford Long, waiting on Kate. The epidural was working, obviously.

About 5 minutes old. James spoke to Kate, and she looked over at him.. "that's my daddy!"

She was so tiny and so sweet. 6 lbs, 5 oz, 17-1/2 inches long.

Getting dressed to go home.
3 weeks old.

She was such a tiny thing!! It's so hard to believe she's a year old today.
Happy birthday baby girl!!

More photos coming of the party. :)
