Milk Strike: Over!! :)

Nothing but smiles today - thankfully, Kate has ended her milk strike. Yesterday, she decided drinking out of the sippy was not so bad, and she drank chocolate milk. We flavored it to try to entice her to drink it. I am not sure if that helped or not - I think she just gave in. 8 days later.
I'm just happy it's over!
Now, time to pack up alllllll of those bottles.

Hope you had a good Memorial Day weekend!!

Growing up, bye-bye bottle :(

Our little Kate is getting big. She's changing so much so fast!!
Next week, Kate and 3 other babies in her class will be joining the 1-year old class. Time to move up! And time to let go of the bottle... uh oh.
Kate loves her bottle. She loves the milk IN the bottle.
She's been drinking out of a sippy for some time, but only water or juice. Any time I've put milk in them, she's thrown it away.
Part of moving up the the new class means no more bottles. It wouldn't be terrible for her to still have one, but I figure we have to make the switch at some point, and it's only going to get harder.
We've tried all the sippy cups - it doesn't seem to matter which one, she doesn't want milk unless it's in a bottle. Our doctor told us she might go on a "milk strike". That is what we are experiencing right now! We tried to substitute a sippy for a bottle every day for the past month, and she just refused it.
Finally we said: no more bottle. Last weekend was the start.
She ain't happy!!! I mean, wow. We have seen some fits. And she brought me to tears last weekend when I put something in the microwave (I would warm her milk for 15 seconds before), and Kate looked up, pointed and said, "bottle." No honey, it's not your bottle.. poor thing! She's not sleeping as good, she's not as full - although she is eating a ton of food now.
She drinks juice and water, but NO milk. I tried to trick her tonight by watering down the milk and adding some strawberry syrup.. but alas, she was too smart. She threw the sippy on the floor and cried. The teachers at daycare commented that she was very sensitive. I'd say!
Other good things are going on; Kate is very mobile with her little car. She has learned how to push it all over the house.
Watch out! Coming through!

..in motion!
I'll keep you posted on our sippy cup situation. :)
I'm sure one day we'll talk about how much she loved her bottle and how stubborn was.
(I have NO idea where she could have gotten that from..)

Fang

Check out the fang!
Kate got her bottom 2 teeth, and I could see that the top 4 were on there way. Then they stopped! Nothing.. then 1 little tooth on her top left side popped out. hee hee
It didn't seem to bother her like the bottom ones when they came in. This was much more gradual I guess.

Can we ever have enough bath photos??

Pigtails and Outdoor fun

James and I finally got around to cleaning our front porch. We wanted to wait until the pollen was over, and I don't believe we have given it a proper cleaning since we moved into our house (5 years ago!). We took everything off and swept and mopped the floor. We cleaned all the furniture and got it back in place. Then Kate woke up from her nap, and we showed her the new outdoor play area!

She loves it of course. Back and forth across the porch - she explored for an hour. Her favorite is picking up little leaves and bits from the trees that land on the porch. I think she was picking up dogwood flower petals this day.
She likes to watch the leaves blowing in the wind.

By the way, did you see my pigtails? :)

We go out on the porch some during the week, but definitely on the weekends. It's perfect because of how shady it is. Kate has taken a great interest in the birds, and she now points to them and says, "Birr". She also says "bree" for tree. CUTE!
